What To Expect During A Hypnotherapy Session
By Kelly Granite Enck, Certifed Hypnotherapist
What is the difference between Hypnosis and Hypnotherapy?
Hypnosis is the state of being completely relaxed, like when you are lost in a movie, engaged in a great book, or working on something with such focus that you lose yourself in it. In this beautiful state of flow, time seems to fly!
This state can be seen in a brain scan as theta brainwaves, the state right before you fall asleep. It is in this theta-wave state that the logical mind, or (ego) takes a vacation and the subconscious mind goes to work for you.
Hypnotherapy is the process of working with the client in the state of hypnosis to change unwanted behavior, thoughts, feelings, or emotions. This can be done in 60-90 minutes on average. The result when the session is a success is permanent, you will never slip backward. Under every fear, phobia, bad habit, procrastination, and feeling of being depressed is a limiting belief, once changed the symptoms go away!
Plan on 1 to 6 sessions to get to your ideal outcome. I work with my client until they tell me that their issue has been fully resolved.
Here is the format of a Standard Hypnosis Session
PART 1: Client sets the goal
PART 2: Question and Answer Session, I learn the mini-history of my client’s life related to their goal.
PART 3: Induction, the process of relaxing my client into the state of hypnosis. During hypnosis, the client’s logical mind or (ego) takes a vacation and their subconscious mind goes to work for them.
PART 4: Hypnotherapy, is the therapeutic method used within the state of hypnosis to “pinpoint” the limiting belief underlying the issue at hand. Once the limiting belief is changed the unwanted symptoms go away permanently.
